You know I’m a fan of the spanx perfect slim straight pants (Exhibit A, B, and C) so when they came out with their new perfect work dress collection I knew I had to try them out. I was fully aware that these were a little more expensive than what I wanted to spend on a dress but I resolved that I would order and return unless I absolutely could see myself wearing them multiple times for work…
… well now I have two new dresses hanging in my closet.
I bought the a-line and the fit and flare. Sheath dresses are never going to be my first choice so I knew I wanted to try the other two first. You know I love my old a-line 3/4 sleeve dress from Boden so this spanx perfect work dress reminded me of it. The red color is bold and in your face- it’s a fantastic red for your closet. Not only for the holidays but for a classic red in general! I was worried about the bottom half fit so I ordered based on my bottom half – this ended up being too big so I had to return for a size based on my upper body.
The fit and flare is a definite flare – and since I’m 5’9″ it’s probably the shortest I would go for work but that’s why I’m glad I got it in the demure black. The length on the a-line isn’t an issue at all. The fit and flare is a solid staple dress for your workwear wardrobe. It can go under blazers, you can put a button down under it, it can be dressed up or down. It’s really an all around awesome pick. I ordered based on my upper body since you don’t have to worry about your bottom half because of the flare.
I’m a fan of their entire perfect collection – they just came out with a blazer but they’re not at a price point that’s in this government gal’s budget. I think they’d be amazing, I obviously know the quality, but right now it’s not in the cards. If you’re new to the spanx workwear world then try their pants and your favorite fit in their perfect work dresses.
