If it’s one thing I know it’s dressing for hot weather. One of the great things about practicing law in the State of Texas is it’s ability to teach you very quickly how to look both professional and not drop dead from overheating. It’s a quick lesson and one I learned well. This is the perfect summer work dress and best part is, it’s only $25!
This summer work dress is a great length, and for me who is 5′ 9″ pushing 5′ 10″ length is oftentimes a deal breaker. My petite friends will find it probably hit’s them right at their knee. The dress is light weight so it’s breathable and won’t just keep the heat in. The material doesn’t cling even though it’s light so you can wear it in the office. Since it’s technically a shirt dress it works for both a summer work dress and a summer weekend dress!
Okay I’ve told you about all the good things – let’s hit and handle the not so good. It’s unlined which isn’t a terrible thing because it’s not see through. You don’t need a tank under the top, just a slip. My go to slips are these. If it gets really hot or wearing it for a casual weekend and plan on doing walking I might slip these shorts underneath to avoid any chafing in addition to adding that slip layer. This dress also doesn’t have sleeves; which just means you have to add one more layer on top: linen blazer or light weight cardigan.
For the weekend I paired my outfit with a sunhat and my favorite nude slip on tennis shoes! I’ve worn this combo a few times already with a jean jacket and I know it’s going to be a great dress come the heat of Texas’ summer.
