Is your office as cold as mine? It feels like it takes months for the HVAC system in offices to catch up with the temperatures outside! I freeze until about February then I die from heat until June! To combat this, I reach for sweaters for work more and more.
Usually when I pick sweaters for work I tend to stick to more fitted than loose (see this red sweater outfit and burgundy sweater outfit) – the looser the sweater the less professional your outfit gets. Chunky knits can be good for the office; just make sure it’s not a loose tunic cut. Focus on the fit and don’t necessarily worry about the knit!
You can get away with a longer cut if your dress code tends to the casual side. A pop of red in a longer length with some slacks and heels equals a great outfit combo! Short sleeve sweaters also work for more casual offices and they still give you that extra bit of warmth you need!
Pair with anything you would normal wear to work: pencil skirts, slacks, pleated skirts – everything! If you feel like your sweater for work is straying into more casual than what you need, toss on some heels with it! I love sweaters with delicate ruffles but I stay away from pockets on them.
