Last month I presented at a work conference and I packed way too much – way. too. much. At the end of the conference I took stock about what I wore and what I didn’t. Here’s what I found – the perfect guide packing for a work conference.
I always feel a little better when I’m dressed more professional than more casual so I tend to err on the side of professional caution. That means I usually bring a black dress suit that I can dress up or down and a colored blazer and jeans. Calibrate your work conference packing list depending on how dressed up or down you feel you need to be.

This work conference packing list is going to let you mix and match so you could always be dressed up or you could go casual if you want or need. Make sure to pack in the same color scheme; don’t bring a navy blazer if your base suit is black.
Bring a wide variety of jewelry because you can make your black dress serious and professional during the day or fun and bar friendly at night with them! I also brought a steamer to my conference! It was an extra thing taking up space but it was great to be able to steam my colored blazer because I wore it twice. Same for my black pants that I wore twice too.
Here are a sample few days to mix and match. If you’re calibrating based off your dress code then you might be able to leave one blazer or pair of shoes at home! Remember your travel days and nights out though – dressing for those can be different than dressing for your days.
