TM and I had high hopes about the gifts we were going to give to our wedding party as a thank you for everything and honestly, I think TM delivered more than I did! I really didn’t want to go the stereotypical way of everything is matchy and monogrammed and color coordinated and then I was out of time and freaking out and ordered everything in about an hour one night.
Each bridesmaid got a sweatshirt that had ‘bridesmaid’ or ‘maid of honor’ at the neck. Mine had ‘Mrs. Miller’ on it. My mom got ‘mother of the bride’ etc. It was pretty chilly on our wedding day so these were perfect. My thought process for sweatshirts was I knew our getting ready room was going to be on the chilly side, I didn’t want button downs, I always feel uncomfortable in robes around other people, and everyone could wear some sort of black bottoms: leggings, sweatpants, shorts, whatever they wanted. They each got a jute tote with their initials painted on it, a plastic stemless wine glass with their initials, and then a plastic zip bag with their initials. I have all of the things I choose and I’ve used them all the time. I wanted to give them something they could use again. The plastic bag I use for sunscreen when I travel. I filled the zip bag with snacks, advil, hydration multiplier, etc that they could use while getting ready or the morning after.

TM got each of his groomsmen watches. (I know I know he did so much better!) He looked for ages and researched what watch he wanted to give them. When he finally found the one he wanted to give them – he was super excited because the metal will patina over time and become unique to each groomsman – it came on a brown band and since everyone was in tuxes we knew we needed to get black leather bands. TM also got one for himself and it was the first time he ever wore it so the watch will become a family heirloom for us.
Another thing we did for our wedding party (that we might consider gifts) was we made sure that after we had taken all the professional photographs with the party and family we had our second photographer take portraits of each wedding party member with their family or partner. They were all in black tie and we wanted to make sure they had beautiful professional portraits while they were all dressed up. This included our ushers and flower girls and ring bearer. Those portraits came out amazing and some even used them on holiday cards! It wasn’t necessarily ‘a wedding party gift’ but I think they loved it just as much as something tangible. If you can I highly recommend giving your wedding party that opportunity!
