Can we just not? Suits and sneakers scream jcrew catalog to me and don’t get me wrong I would do a lot of things to be in a jcrew catalog but putting sneakers with suits is something that needs to stay on the pages of a catalog and not in the hallways of an office.

Suits and sneaks are cute, love the whole vibe, and if I wore suits in my off time (which I don’t because why the heck would I?) then I would pair suits and sneakers together. But they will never get put together when I’m on the way to work. I don’t even like wearing sneakers for casual fridays, which I’m still struggling with for the record, because we all know how I feel about jeans at work.
The only dress codes where you might be able to get away with this combo is a casual workplace (but then why are you in a suit?) and a creative workplace, where anything except a bikini goes quite honestly. But if you’re in an office that has a dress code of business casual, smart casual, or business professional then do not pair your suits and sneakers. You might think business casual could get away with it but I believe that the tennis shoes just bring out the casual in business casual and you want to strive to bring out the business part instead.
If you want to give your feet a break and you don’t want to wear heels with your suits that’s fine – grab a pair of flats or some loafers. These are just as professional as heels!
So, I know this outlook could cause riots but it needs to be said – keep your suits and your sneakers separate.
