Have you ever looked through a magazine and seen trends that are so out there you don’t know how you could ever actually wear them? It’s not always easy to incorporate trends into your work wardrobe but I’ve got some work appropriate ways to do just that.
Having over two months of working from home gives one plenty of time to peruse magazines and there are some doozies for spring and summer trends right now. I’ve seen polka dots, tiered skirts and tops, collar necklaces, vests, and 60’s prints making all kinds of headway through the catwalks and glossy pages. While these trends might not all reach out and grab you there are some great ways to incorporate these trends into your work wardrobe.
While it might be easy to incorporate these trends into a casual wardrobe, I mean you can toss a vest over a polka dot top and a tiered skirt and call it your brunch outfit and I’d throw back some mimosas and pancakes with you for sure. But taking that into an office doesn’t seem like the best way to make your boss excited they hired you, unless you work at Free People, and in that case you’ll probably be promoted. Don’t get me wrong, I love Free People, but I can’t wear many of their peasant dresses into a courtroom, no matter how on trend they are.
So let’s look at some items that will let you incorporate trends into your work wardrobe in a professional and boss approved way.
Polka Dots
Tiered Skirts and Tops
Vests
Collar Necklaces
60’s Prints
This polka dot top (that’s only $20!) might be the most in-your-face polka dot trend I’d incorporate into my work rotation just because it’s large polka dots combined with a bow and might be a little much for those conservative judges I love. But I tossed a blazer over it for work and it was awesome for hearings.
