So you’re single this Valentine’s Day and you want to treat yourself. Great, I’m with you! In case you missed it, I’m single this Valentine’s day and THAT’S OKAY.
But if we want to get serious for a second (only a second I promise) it’s not okay. And what’s not okay about it is that if you’re a single woman you have to say it’s “okay,” because we’re taught that there is something fundamentally wrong with being a woman without a man. That is simply NOT TRUE. Would you have to say “that’s okay” for being a single woman on February 15th? No. So I’m going to change that first line to I’m single this Valentine’s day.
Cool. Let’s move on. Here’s 7 ways to treat your single self this valentine’s day:
Get a Massage
Book a massage for yourself: full body, head, or foot. I’m a big believer in foot massages they are amazing and you get so much bang for your buck. Find the nearest foot spa and schedule that!
Buying flowers (on Saturday)
Get those flowers you want when the prices aren’t so expensive by buying them on Saturday. Bring a whole bouquet to work and bask in that beauty all week.
Workout & get an expensive smoothie
Go to a workout class and get your body moving and blood flowing; it’s good for your body and your emotions. Then go get a ridiculously expensive smoothie or juice and smile about all the health you’re shoving at your body : )
Take a bubble bath
Light some candles, grab a bath bomb, bubbles, or epsom salts, put some spa music on, and grab a glass of wine and sink into luxury. Soak until you’re pruned and then wrap up in warmed robe and relax.
Get a mani/pedi
Schedule a manicure and/or pedicure and get your hands and feet pampered. Take all the time to let them dry because you’ve got the time! Get a fun color too!
Masks: hair and face
Also something you can add to the bath option but do an intensive hair treatment and put a face mask on. My favorite tip on hair treatments is to put a towel in the dryer and wrap your hair in the towel after you put the mask on it. The heat helps the mask sink deeper.
Dance party
Turn up the tunes and jam out in your house. Shake your bum, wave your hands, and sing along. A personal favorite to start it up: I Wanna Dance with Somebody by the ever incredible Whitney Houston.
Schedule a blowout
Get your hair done and look killer. Check out drybar or your normal hair salon. I always feel awesome when I walk out with a blowout! Bounce in your hair and in your steps.
Go to a movie (and get allllll the snacks)
Buy a ticket, go in your sweats and chuckle at all the other people on dates who don’t get to be comfortable in sweats, and then buy every snack you want. Popcorn? Duh. Soda? Of course. Milk Duds? You betcha. Red Vines? Heck yes.
Are you a fan of wearing pink at work? I wasn’t but now I’ve got the “rules” down.
