Hi friends! It’s been a minute but December has been a doozy. Yall have loved the capsule wardrobe posts this year so here’s another one for you!
You started with your capsule wardrobe basics, you added the summer capsule additions, and the fall capsule additions. Now you’re freezing and you want to add your winter capsule wardrobe additions. Let’s take a look at the six items to add to your closet to get your capsule wardrobe through the winter.
Shop the look: turtleneck, pants, shoes, earrings, tote
Wool or Flannel Pants – grab a pair of wool pants, bonus points if they’ve got a texture or pattern to them. They’ll keep forever and they’ll keep you warm.
Tights – add them to skirts and dresses to give every outfit extra warmth. When I lived in Minnesota I would even add them under pants when it was super cold outside. Here are the six brands of tights that I’ve given superlatives to…
Black Turtleneck – I used to think turtlenecks were for grandmas to wear under those ugly vests… and then I opened my eyes to the awesomeness that turtlenecks are. A black turtleneck is to winter what a white tank is to summer = priceless. Toss one under a blazer or just pair it with the wool pants.
Tall Boots – layer these with skirts and dresses (yes just like those tights, or with those tights) to give your work wardrobe more mileage. Keep the boot shafts at or under your knees and the heels under 4 inches
Booties – yes boots and booties! Here are my tips for wearing booties at the office, at all different dress codes.
Camel Coat – the coat to rule all coats! Your trench coat from the fall additions will forever the rock star coat in your work closet but this camel coat is going to take you from desk to dinner for every weekend. Plus, when it’s cold your trench might not cover it.
