How do you handle work burn out?
Honestly? Not well. It’s a struggle for me to recognize when I’m getting burnt out – recently I had to take a mental health day from work because it juse dawned on me that I was flat burnt out. I didn’t recognize this when I cried in my office or when my eye was twitching for multiple days. It took me asking a coworker for advil for the third time one day for me to realize that my headache wasn’t something I could medicate away. I didn’t even realize that I had asked her that many times in one day; I legit thought it was different days. She shocked me when she was like ‘Katherine, are you okay? This is the third time today?’ When I do realize I’m burnt out I try to treat it as if I’m physically sick. I take a day to relax, to rest, and to recuperate. No running errands, no housework, just flat out watching movies, taking naps, reading etc. This could be a whole post!
