A few weeks ago on Instagram I asked what yall wanted to see and the two resounding answers were for a Work Capsule Wardrobe and a Day in the Life of a Prosecutor! Yall loved the Capsule Wardrobe so I wanted to make sure I took yall through what a day looks like for me.

There really are no “normal” days for me. I can have court hearings Monday, Thursday, or Friday. Some weeks I can be in trial all week and everything else I could be getting done: case screenings, intake, answering emails, drafting motions, prepping for other trials, meeting with officers or victims etc. Trial days are rough – so much preparation goes into them and you are just ‘on’ for the entire day. Most trial days I come home (after preparing for the next day) and lay down and stare at the ceiling and just let my brain go blank.
A Day in the Life of a Prosecutor really depends on what ‘kind’ of day I have: office day, court day, or trial day. Here is what my days usually look like on office/court days vs trial days:
Sometimes the things I draft or the prep that I do on trials takes multiple days. It’s a real juggling act to make sure that I don’t miss dates to file things or respond by. I have to keep really organized so I don’t miss them and can strategize what I attack in priority. I wish I had a legal assistant to do that for me but I don’t – your tax dollars at work!
