Welcome to the 2022 version of The Docket’s Workwear Capsule Wardrobe!
I wish I had a Workwear Capsule Wardrobe when I was starting out. The good thing about these is that even if you’re just beginning to create your workwear wardrobe or if you’re looking to cut your closet back these are good blueprints. You can look through your current wardrobe, even if you’re starting from a college one, and select which items will work for your new office.
Good rules to keep in mid when selecting which items should stay is that just because you toss a blazer over the top or dress doesn’t make it work appropriate. If it’s too low cut, regulate it to the weekend pile, if it’s too short, ditto.
When you’re selecting your pieces remember to stick to your budget and allot more of your budget to the pieces that you will wear multiples times. In this case that’s your four suit pieces; and your black and nude heels. You can find these pieces at different price points but my ride or die suits have always been from J Crew. When you find a suit that fits you well, buy the entire four pieces: blazer, skirt, pants, and dress. The blacks will match and having the entire suit gives you so many options.
Last year I had 20 items for your workwear capsule wardrobe but I included a bag, which doesn’t really change up an outfit. I still think you need a good work bag – if you’re looking for one check out my ultimate guide to workwear bags. This year I increased the number of items from 20 to 25; shoes are still included, but I went from four pairs to five; and two accessories are included as well. All of the items below are clickable – they are all at different price points.
This year, with the 2022 Workwear Capsule Wardrobe Edit you get over 90 outfits – NINTY! And that’s without changing shoes! That is over FOUR MONTHS OF WORK DAY OUTFITS. I’m sorry did I just make your day? Yes, I thought so.
My plan this year, similar to what I did last year, is to add new five new items each season and use them to create more outfits.
Here is one month of workwear outfits using these items. They’re easy to mix and match with mostly the same underlying color palette. I promise you your coworkers aren’t going to think ‘didn’t she wear that skirt last week?’
I will be sharing these Workwear Capsule Wardrobe outfits on my LTK page so make sure you’re following my LTK page to see them all; including when I add all the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter additions.

This is such a helpful capsule wardrobe! Thank you for putting this together! I am sure it took a lot of time, and it shows. Thank you again!
