Neutrals are classic workwear for a reason. They don’t offend anyone, you look professional, you look put together, and they match. Buuuuut sometimes they can be boring; am I right or am I right? One of the easiest ways to spice up a neutral workwear outfit is to add an unexpected element – in this case, the untucked silk shirt.
While, yes, the silk shirt is still in technically a neutral color, it breaks up this staid sweater and slacks combo and adds something relaxed to the outfit. Relaxed but still office appropriate. Would I wear this to the office? Yes, already have. Would I wear this to trial? No probably not, but not everyone is in that type of professional environment. This is a classic workwear outfit made even more classic because of the neutrals, and more fun because of the unexpected untuck.

What are your thoughts on the untucked shirt? Some people just can’t do it – I totally get that. If you need to tuck or you want to nix it altogether, you do you. But add the unexpected in a different way – toss on a large necklace or scarf. Maybe add a punchy blazer over the sweater, pick some print for your shoes, or add a fun tote if you need to keep your workwear a little more conservative. Keep the workwear neutral but make it fun.
