After going through a period of work from home my makeup routine has condensed. I used to wear a full face of makeup for work every single day and paid special attention to primers on trial days. Now, I rarely wear base and my makeup routine takes under 10 minutes each morning. But I definitely have some favorite foundations and tints that I can’t give up!
I try different foundations and skin tints way too much. I try them and they usually get tossed if they aren’t perfect. If they pill or flake they get throw out. But there are some tried and true ones that will always have a spot in my makeup bag. Here are some that I love right now and some that I’ve loved forever.
My Favorite Face Foundations & Tints
Tula Blurring & Moisturizing Primer
Shade: Luna
Pros: primer and tint all in one
Cons: very light coverage
My Thoughts: This is what I wear on a daily basis, see these OOTDS for examples. I blend this into my skin and it doesn’t feel like I have any foundation on at all. You can add foundation over this since it’s a primer but because it has a shade you don’t have to. I never see the shade when I first put it on but it comes out after putting it on my face. I use concealer with it only on my dark circles and blemishes; it evens out everything else. I love this stuff.
IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50+
Shade: Fair Light / Light
Pros: covers all imperfections
Cons: heavy
My Thoughts: When I take photos (like here), have a dress up date night, or have trial this is what I wear. You really don’t need concealer after using this, even with blemishes. Set with some setting powder and you’ve got a beautiful palette to build your full face of makeup on. I put this on with a flat top brush (mine is only $10) and then go over it with a damp beauty blender if there are any “lines” from the brush.
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Foundation
Shade: Balos
Pros: clean beauty
Cons: slightly sticky
My Thoughts: This is the only foundation I buff in with a damp sponge; the first time I used it was with my fingers and it was too sticky for me to do that. Once I used a damp beauty blender it was a game changer. I tend to use this in the winter because I feel like it sticks to my face even when I’ve got a heavier moisturizer.
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
Shade: Oslo
Pros: just enough coverage that stays
Cons: you can feel it on your face
My Thoughts: this was my go to foundation in the summer when I want to die in Texas and still need coverage on my face. In the summer when I need more coverage than the Tula primer I reach for this. It gives you that ‘lit from within’ glow and it doesn’t cake when I sweat.
Pros: sunscreen 40 SPF, the texture
Cons: two step process
My Thoughts: This is what I wear when I just want a little color on my face and I’m keeping everything else simple. It’s a two step process since you have to add a bit of each and mix with your fingers but it doesn’t take as much time as that sounds. The matte of the sun screen is my absolute favorite, it melts into your skin and there’s zero shine. This is my go to on the weekend and when at the beach.
I’d recommend trying the Tula primer, the Supergoop & Drop combo, & the IT CC cream. Those are my three go-to’s all year round.
