Let’s build on your basic work wear capsule wardrobe shall we? I’ve got the six items you needs to add to your capsule wardrobe to get even more mileage out of it for fall!
Just like the summer additions, these fall additions for your capsule wardrobe are going to make sure that your basic work wear outfits take you all the way through the fall season.
Suede Loafers – when temperatures start to drop and heels just aren’t keeping your feet warm or maybe your feet just need a break, grab a pair of suede loafers and pair them with everything! From pants to dresses, loafers can be worn with everything!
Trench Coat – this is a staple that needs to be in everyone’s closet whether you go into an office or not. A trench coat is a classic for a reason! I had a wool lined trench in law school until about a year ago when I finally needed to replace it and it was an amazing buy. I wear trenches when it’s cold, damp, or rainy.
Basic Long Sleeve Cotton Tee – everyone needs a basic cotton tee, they pair with pants or skirts for work, and they’re great for layering under blazers if the occasion calls for them. My favorites are actually these tees from Target, they’re so soft and don’t pill. I also love these artist tees, the neckline is super chic and takes your basic tee up a notch.
Sweater Blazer – toss on one of these when you want to wear your pajamas at work and it’s getting colder. I wrap up in one of these and could probably end up taking a nap at my desk – they’re THAT comfortable! When it’s really cold I love layering one over a tissue turtleneck.
Fall Dress – grab a dress with long sleeves in a fall color (orange, brown, navy, rust) that you can pair with a killer pair of suede pumps (or your loafers)! This corduroy one can even be paired with boots for all your off duty days!
Plaid Blazer – if you know me you know my love for plaid blazers. I LOVE THEM. You can wear all black underneath and add a plaid blazer for a pop. I also love mixing browns and black with plaid blazers – caramel and nude go together.
If you’re in a more casual office and feel like jeans are appropriate for your work place check my post about my thoughts on jeans at work. It might surprise you… or maybe not! Even if you don’t wear jeans to the office all of the fall additions to your work capsule wardrobe can be worn on the weekend with jeans. Double duty!
