Let’s say you’ve established your capsule wardrobe. You’ve got your favorite basic blouses and basic heels and basic… you get the point. You’ve got your basics down. Now let’s start adding items to make it your summer capsule wardrobe!
I’ve rounded up six items to add to your closet to make sure your capsule wardrobe gets you through summer. All of these items are easy to mix and match with other items in your wardrobe. Since I’m from Texas you can be sure all of these items have been properly vetted for the heat of summer!
Open Toe Heeled Sandals – grab these instead of your basic black heels and let your feet breathe a little. I tend toward a chunkier heel because I think it looks less “clubbing worthy” and more work appropriate.
White Blazer – this is your summer equivalent of the black blazer. Pair it with everything; it’s going to become a staple in your summer capsule wardrobe.
Jersey Dress – it’s hot and who wants to sweat in a sheath dress? No one. Grab a jersey dress and make it easy and cooler on yourself.
Linen Top – linen is the ‘coolest’ fabric and I love it. Instead of getting a linen suit and having to deal with all the wrinkles add a simple linen top to your closet. You can top it with the white blazer or wear it alone when it’s sweltering outside.
Sleeveless Vest – this vest is so versatile, wear it as you would a casual blazer and see how it works with everything. Here are a few ideas to get you started: look 1, look 2, look 3
Nude Mules – these are my version of the summer sandal you wear everywhere. They will become your new best friend and they work for the office and the weekend.
I know some might want to add a shorts suit but I just don’t believe that’s ever appropriate for the work place. If your boss wears one then go for it but my advice is to be very careful prior to wearing one to the office. They are super cute but they are definitely not professional.
