A staple every woman needs in their closet is a classic trench coat. There are a few things to think about when purchasing one that is going to last in both quality and style.
I’ve bought two trenches over the years, one at the beginning of law school and then I finally bought a second (and donated my first) last year. The first trench I bought I found at Nordstrom Rack, it was lined, and had a detachable hood. As I had just moved to Minnesota it was kismet.
I personally gravitate toward a double breasted trench and while I think short trenches are super chic, I can’t justify purchasing one since I don’t really have a need for it in Texas. Both of my purchases have been long lengths. I also like the more structured classic trench coats (but drape trench are *chef’s kiss*) and ones in the basic khaki color, although this olive green one is calling my name in a big way. Ooooor this burgundy hooded one!
Since we are now officially in fall and that means temps are dropping and it’s getting rainy and snowy the classic trench coat is a must have for your closet. There are a few stand out candidates including this Everlane coat and this London Fog all weather trench and this Ralph Lauren trench is probably my favorite but a little pricey. If you’re looking for an affordable option then this $55 classic trench coat is right up your alley and a perfect price point!
Here are some other ways I styled this classic trench coat: with a printed dress and beret, with a solid dress and belt, buttoned up and ready for the weather. I pull this classic trench coat on anytime the weather threatens to get bad so I don’t have to run from my car to the office!
