What’s in my bag? How about what’s NOT in my bag? Here’s what you should keep in your bag for work!
Sometimes I think I don’t show my work bag enough love. It does a thankless job of lugging around my crap day after day. Now don’t get me wrong, there are essentials in there, essentials I tell you! But still, it gets tossed in my office chair, tossed in the car, and then it sits on the floor where my dogs put their noses in it hoping I left a half eaten granola bar in there for them to find.
So what’s in my bag I take to work? Here are a few of the things that are always in my bag.
Safety pen – not safety pin, although those are in my bag too. I’ve got a deceptively dangerous job, I’m in rooms with criminals every day and it’s been beaten in my head from law enforcement that I need to be aware of my surroundings. I carry this pen with me everywhere. The pen is mightier than the sword indeed.
My sunnies – I’ve got sunglasses like I’ve got chapstick. Car sunnies, bag sunnies, desk sunnies, home sunnies. I love these Quay ones and these Ray Ban ones. Classic styles with a twist.
Hair ties – Long thick hair and Texas summers don’t mix well. I swear it’s 10 degrees hotter on the nape of my neck than the temperature when my hair is down so I use these to put my hair up without putting a crease in it.
Power bank – I sit in a courtroom for hours and I need to be able to charge my phone without the judge or a jury seeing. This power bank is small enough to hide and powerful enough to charge it 3x. I use a multicord since it’s smaller than a long cord AND inevitably someone always asks to charge their device and you don’t have to have a Sophie’s choice situation since you can charge more than one device!
Coin purse – I like change like Obama likes change. This coin purse has held up for me for three years and it shows no sign of giving in yet.
Careof Quick Sticks – I keep the Extra Batteries (energy) and Gut Check (stomach issues) stick in my bag. These things actually taste good, trust me that’s a big commendation coming from me, and these are great for giving you a little extra energy without grabbing a Red Bull (ugh).
Most of these items I keep in one smaller bag because I change out the bag I take to work on the regular and it’s so much easier to just grab my all in one bag and put that in my new tote.
